Alec Shankman – Hollywood Heavy Hitter
Alec Shankman is no stranger to A-list talent. While his isn’t a “life on air,” he’s one of the most influential agents and innovators for the TV host industry.
In 2003, Alec joined the West coast office of Abrams Artists Agency where he personally launched the agency’s renowned Alternative Programming Department. He subsequently ran the successful division for 6 years, representing the stars of many of America’s most popular TV shows.
His clients ranged from TV hosts & actors, like Joey Lawrence & Cristian De La Fuente, to celeb-reality stars, like Kelly LeBrock & Kim Coles, to on-camera experts, like the stars of SyFy’s ‘Ghost Hunters,’ Bravo’s ‘Million Dollar Listing,’ & VH1’s ‘The Pick Up Artist.’ Alec also represented TV producers and packaged television shows including ‘Project MyWorld’ on DirecTV and the multi-series ‘Confessions’ franchise on HDNet.
In 2009, Alec Shankman assumed the position as CEO of GotCast.com, the Internet’s premier interactive casting site and social network for talent. Under his supervision, GotCast has innovated the casting business and has now cast for over 100,000 TV projects (i.e. ABC’s ‘The Bachelor,’ MTV’s ‘The Real World,’ CBS’s ‘Big Brother,’ ABC’s ‘WipeOut,’ NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent,’ Lifetime’s ‘Project Runway,’ etc.).

Today, Alec Shankman is co-head of alternative/digital media for The Kaplan Stahler Agency in Los Angeles where He facilitates branding and endorsement deals for unscripted talent. Among the clients he brought to the agency are some of the prospectors on Discovery’s “Gold Rush” and the family at the center of A&E’s smash hit “Duck Dynasty.
Alec says that consulting for digital and tech firms is also a big focus now that Hollywood is starting to make real money off of digital distribution pacts. He believes there’s a need for the content side to now work with digital distribution companies to help the find great talent and great content, and there’s a need in the consulting space to help the tech community bridge the gap with Hollywood.
